Cat Breath: How To Get Rid Of Bad Cat Breathe

Like bad breath in humans, cat also suffer from bad breath and can be awful.  Bacteria found in the mouth is the main cause of bad breath in human as well as cat as the mouth breaks proteins down and releases sulfur compounds and  mixes in the air.

As sulphur smells very bad itself, breathe containing this sulfur smells even worse. The bacteria that cause bad breath in cats are due to the buildup of tartar around the teeth. The tartar is yellow in color and is commonly known as coating of bacteria, food and minerals.  
So, in order to cure bad breath from your cat, the first thing you have to do is to remove the tartar buildup. There are various cat foods available in the market that is specially manufactured to reduce tartar buildup.

There are many enzymes in the product that makes the tartar dissolve. Reward the cat with his favorite food if he takes the treatment and prevent tartar.  If the tartar is tough and bad you can get it professionally cleaned. And once the tartar is removed, the cat can be relieved of bad breath.

Cleaning the tartar from the cat’s teeth is also possible at home. You can find numerous toothpastes available in the pet’s store in different flavors that can be loved by your cat. You can use a mechanical toothbrush as the movement of the toothbrush plays an important role in removing the tartar. Enzymes containing toothpastes easily dissolves the tartar and helps in curing the bad breath. You can easily destroy the tartar build up that leads to bad breath if you start brushing your cat’s teeth at the earliest.

Take care when you feed your cat, as there are various bacteria found in the food that causes tartar build up, therefore whenever you feed your cat; make sure that the food does not contain more bacteria.  Try to feed your cat with healthy foods made at home or available in the market to prevent bad breath.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that, whenever you treat your pet makes sure that the treat is helps in eradicating the tartar.  Like human beings, brush your cat’s teeth whenever he has finished with his eating or at least rinse his mouth. By doing this you can help the bacteria come out of the mouth before it build up on the teeth.

Many a times, tartar is not the only reason of bad breath. Hence, you should make sure about the bad breath as it can be an indication of either liver or kidney disease. If you notice the problem is not due to tartar, it is essential to visit your veterinary doctor.
